Our Values
We are committed to producing outstanding quality bagels in an eco friendly way. This involves overall consideration of how ingredients are grown, sourced, the energy used to prepare them, and how they are packaged/delivered.
Eco-friendly
The electricity we use in our kitchen for baking is from renewable sources. All our packaging is biodegradable, recyclable or both. Our paper bags and boxes are sustainably sourced. The insulation we use for our chilled shipments is made with 100% sheep’s wool which is compostable and biodegradable. Any plastic packaging and freezer packs used are either recyclable or biodegradable.
Our Ingredients
Although our bagels are not at present certified organic, we take great care in choosing what goes into our bagels, and ensuring that our ingredients are pure, non GMO and chemical/additive free. Our aim is to provide a healthier option for you, to support producers with similar values, and to make choices that support what is best for the the planet and the environment.
The majority of the bagel ingredients are sourced from Essential Trading, a workers-owned co-operative
Our ‘Local Wheat’ Bagel features wheat that is grown and milled less than a mile away from our bakery. How cool is that!
We take pride in supporting our local economy. Our bagels are sold through a number of small community businesses and food hubs. Our filled bagels promote locally made cheeses and fresh farm produce. As an alternative to the traditional smoked salmon, our we feature a more ethical and sustainable alternative of smoked sliced ChalkStream trout which has all the expected flavour but without the negative environmental impact of salmon farming.
